Nicolas Penneteau was born on February 28, 1981 in Marseille to a Corsican mother. He quickly reached Corsica, near Porto-Vecchio. That’s where he was spotted by SC Bastia. First of all, he played his first professional game during the 1998-1999 season. Selected in all the youth teams in France, he was selected to participate in the Euro for under-18s in 2000.
The only father-married member of the team, Nicolas Penneteau is the captain of the blue group that wins the competition. Robert Nouzaret imposed him in Sporting’s cages as number one in 2001.
The club was downgraded four seasons later, in 2005, finishing 19th in the championship. After the 2005-2006 season, during which he failed to make it back to L1 with the Corsican club, he was transferred to Valenciennes, just promoted to Ligue 1, for a sum of just over a million euros.
